The Volleyball was created in Holyoke YMCA in Massachusetts, United States, on February 9, 1895, by William George Morgan. Morgan's goal was to create a team sport with no physical contact between opponents so as to minimize the risk of injury. Initially, he played with a chamber of basketball and was named Mintonette but quickly gained popularity with the name of volleyball.
